Ocotillo

This is a monotype painting on Asian Paper.

it is 60” h. x 36” w.

It was a commissioned piece and I spent many month working on getting it just right using the monotype technique I have been using for several years. I was able to do it in 2 layers and added painting as well.

I made several variation which I have here as well.

Shoaling

I started thinking about what type of species works as a group, community, and for what reasons? Perhaps feeling the need for a group myself. And there are several; birds, herds, and then I thought about fish and I was hooked. I did some research and came upon the word shoal - A loose, uncoordinated group of fish that swim near each other but do not move in perfect unison. (AI).While a school is a more structured and synchronized group. I became obsessed with the idea and the visuals of fish shoaling.

I started carving them from a soft lino plate and printing on my flowing rhythmic monotype papers I have been making, then I painted on the paper to finish my vision. Mounted the thin Asian paper onto a cradled wood surface. The body of work here is the result.

Each painting is 18” x 24” painted/printed on thin Asian paper using Acrylic paint and the pieces were mounted on a cradled wood panel 1.5” depth.
